Greetings Las Lomitas families, and welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!

As principal, my goal is to support the children and staff of Las Lomitas and ensure your children have the best education possible. With that in mind, the social emotional health and needs of your children and the staff are paramount.

This marks my ninth year as Principal of Las Lomitas and my 12th year at our wonderful school. In all, I am entering my 26th year in education and look forward to many years to come!

As Principal of Las Lomitas, I am honored to be part of a collaborative group of educators. The Las Lomitas community has been welcoming and supportive since day one, and I am excited about the work ahead of us. With the encouragement of my biggest fans, my wife, who is an Assistant Principal in San Francisco, and two children, I look to have a long and successful career with the Las Lomitas Elementary School District.

I take this time to share with you my philosophy on education. I firmly believe that all children can reach their full potential when we recognize their unique capabilities and provide support as needed. I hold strong to the notion that learning happens in an environment where children are encouraged and allowed to take risks. This type of environment has to be built on a bedrock of trust and respect. Relationships have to be forged in order to create a safe and nurturing environment that facilitates this type of learning. In education, relationships across the board are essential for student success. I take pride in getting to know the students, faculty, staff, parents, and community as best I can.

Together we are LIONS!
Sincerely,

Alain Camou, Principal

HEATHER PETERSON, ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

Welcome to Las Lomitas and the 2023-2024 school year. It is my honor to work alongside Principal Camou and our dedicated staff to serve Las Lomitas students and families. I echo and support Mr. Camou's sentiments about the importance of relationships and connection as we provide a school experience that meets the academic and social-emotional needs of all of our students.

I have been part of the Las Lomitas family since 1996, when I began teaching third grade at Las Lomitas Elementary. Over the years, I have come to call this school and community my "home." My own two children (now in college at SDSU) were Las Lomitas and La Entrada students from Kindergarten through eighth grade. My connections with families have even become generational as children of some of my former students are now enrolled at Las Lomitas.

To me, school is, first and foremost, a community of learners, and as Mr. Camou expressed, risk-taking and depth of learning are built upon and enhanced by the trusting relationships and connections experienced at school. I look forward, every day, to my "work" here at Las Lomitas, connecting with smiling students and dedicated staff, celebrating learning, and growing together.

I am excited about experiencing, engaging, and collaborating with everyone in our LLESD community as we experience celebrations, change, challenges, and the joys of learning together this year.

Sincerely,
Heather Peterson, Assistant Principal
